Description
Endoceras sp.
Ordovician
Huge 230mm section of one of the largest known fossil cephalopods.
Endoceras was a giant, straight-shelled nautiloid that ruled the seas during the Ordovician period, over 450 million years ago. It could grow over 20 feet (6 meters) long, making it one of the largest predators of its time. With its long, cone-shaped shell and tentacled head, Endoceras glided through ancient oceans, ambushing prey with precision. Massive, ancient, and deadly, it was a true titan of the Paleozoic seas.
