Description
Eocene flower – Antholithes
Eocene
Green River Fm.- Parachute Creek Mbr.
Douglas Pass
Colorado, USA.
The name Antholithes has historically been used for fossilized flowers or flower-like plant impressions whose exact botanical relationships are uncertain. Many specimens are preserved as compression fossils in fine-grained shale or lake-bed sediments where fragile petals, sepals, and reproductive structures could occasionally survive fossilization.
