Description

Richardoestesia gilmorei
Late Cretaceous
Hell Creek Formation
Harding County, SD, USA

Fine 0.2 inch tooth.

Richarodestesia is a genus of small theropod dinosaur known from the Late Cretaceous of North America (and perhaps even the Early Cretaceous). It was named in honor of Richard Estes, the late paleoherpetologist who spent much of his career studying fossil reptiles as well as fishes and amphibians especially those of the Late Cretaceous.

Here’s an affordable example for the collector frustrated by all the high-priced dinosaur teeth out there. It’s essentially there. You still find a few inexpensive specimens that aren’t just shards and chips if you take the time to look.
