Deinonychus was a fast, intelligent dromaeosaurid best known for its enlarged sickle shaped claw and lightly built frame. Its discovery transformed scientific understanding of dinosaur biology, providing strong evidence that many theropods were active, agile animals and reinforcing the evolutionary link between dinosaurs and birds.
