Trachyteuthis is a rare and unusual cephalopod that looked like a squid in life.  Researchers have classified it within the Subclass Coleioidea (belemnites, squid, cuttlefish, octopus) and it may be most closely related to octopuses.

Usually, all you find of Trachyteuthis is just the beak but here’s a rare body fossil.
