Meekoceras is a genus of ammonite known from various Early Triassic sites around the world: western North America, central Asia, Russia, China, the Middle East, Madagascar, India, and Japan,

There was a time when ammonites from the Thaynes Formation were commonly seen at shows but no one collects out there anymore.  Every once in a while, a few appear on the market from an old collection.  This is a specimen for the ammonite collector who has some Triassic specimens from Europe but none from North America.
