Sponges and Trilobites- Naraoia compacta, Diagoniella and Peronopsis
Middle Cambrian
Wheeler Formation
House Range Miller CO.
Utah, USA.

Unusual plate with two Naraoia (19mm and 15mm), at least twenty one sponges (avg. 7mm) and dozens of small agnostid trilobites

This extraordinary fossil plate showcases a rare and beautiful snapshot of Cambrian seafloor life. At its center are two Naraoia—soft-bodied arthropods related to trilobites—measuring 19mm and 15mm, preserved in stunning detail. Surrounding them are at least twenty-one sponges, averaging 7mm, their delicate forms hinting at ancient filter-feeding communities. Scattered throughout are dozens of tiny agnostid trilobites, some only a few millimeters long. Together, they form a vibrant, 500-million-year-old ecosystem, frozen in time—a museum-worthy window into Earth’s earliest complex marine life.
