Description
Early Cretaceous
Tegana Formation
Taouz, Morocco
14mm claw
Dinosaur, Theropod.
In general an animal has fewer claws than teeth. The keratin sheath disintegrates after death leaving the bony claw core which starts to fragment from moisture infiltration and external erosion. This leaves a fossil claw a rare find whether it’s a bird or dinosaur.
This claw is not identifiable due to the fact that there have been few studies on any of the Moroccan dinosaurs and there seems to be a number of genera present.
