Description

Azendohsaurus?
Prosauropod
Late Triassic
Bull Canyon Formation
San Miguel County, New Mexico, USA

Very rare 0.55” foot claw.

Azendohsaurus is an early herbivorous dinosaur known from the mid-late Triassic of Morocco and Madagascar. Tantalizing bits and pieces indicate that it may have been present in North America as well. It’s quite possible because it lived at a time when it was still possible to walk from Madagascar to northern Africa to New Mexico without getting your feet wet. It’s certainly a claw but We can’t say for sure so we tentatively identify it as Azendohsaurus with a question mark.

The Bull Canyon Formation is rich in fossils but little has been published on it.  You can find lots of teeth but any type of claw is quite rare.
