Here is an unidentified seed from a time when Colorado had a very different climate.  The Early Eocene was the warmest interval since the days of the dinosaurs.  Tropical forest covered much of the continents.  Even Antarctica was ice-free at the time.  Climates would start to trend cooler a few million years later.
