Description

Early Cretaceous
Jiulongshan Formation
Daohugou Village, China

20mm inflorescence on 45mm slab.

Plant. Cone.

An inflorescence is a cluster of flowers on a plant or the part of the plant where flowers are formed.  This specimen was alive not long after the appearance of flowering plants (angiosperms) on earth.

Not every dealer looks for inflorescenses but we try to pick them up when we see them for sale because we know there are fossil plant collectors looking for unusual specimens.
