Description

Late Jurassic

Morrison Formation

Henry Mtns. UT, USA

Highly unusual 0.9 inch rachis (seeds detached).

See: Chandler, M  1966  Fruiting organs from the Morrison Formation of Utah, USA, Bul. Brit. Mus. (Nat Hist) 12:4  p. 137-171.

Behuninia specimens have been interpreted as fruiting structures of cycadophytes and as shoots from extinct genera of conifers. It’s an interesting piece for collectors who like odd plant fossils.
