Duslia sp. is a rare and mysterious arthropod from the Ordovician period, over 460 million years ago. Known from only a few fossils, Duslia had a soft, segmented body and may have been related to early crustaceans or other stem arthropods. Its delicate preservation makes it hard to classify, but its presence helps reveal the incredible diversity of marine life during the Ordovician. Duslia is an enigmatic survivor from Earth’s early oceans—a forgotten branch in the arthropod family tree.
