Description

Suchomimus tenerensis- Theropod Hand Claw
Early Cretaceous (Aptian)
Elrhaz Formation, Tegama Beds
Gadoufaoua, Tenere Desert

Huge hand claw from a spinosaurid believed to be synonymous with Baryonyx. A whopping 24cm (9.5 inches) on the curve.

suchomimus tenerensis was a large, fierce theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now Africa during the Early Cretaceous period. It had a long, crocodile-like snout filled with over 100 sharp teeth—perfect for catching slippery fish, its main prey. Suchomimus could grow up to 36 feet (11 meters) long and had strong claws on its hands, including a massive thumb claw for grabbing prey. With its semi-aquatic lifestyle and powerful build, Suchomimus was like a dinosaur version of a crocodile—a river predator built for hunting in and around water.
