Description
Cyanorus sp.
Precambrian
Penega Formation
East Angelsk, White Sea Russia
5mm extremely rare Ediacaran animal closely related to Spriggina. 70mm slab
Cyanorus singularis is a small proarticulatan, closely related to Spriggina and Marywadea. The anterior part of the body was most likely not segmented. Its axial structure combines features of Vendia and Dickinsonia, but it appears to be distinct from either. It was found in the Upper Precambrian of the White Sea region of Russia and is not known from anywhere else. Like other animals from the phylum Proarticulata, the symmetry observed is not exactly bilaterian, but appears to be a glide reflection, where opposite segments are shifted by half an interval.
