Platybelodon (primitive elephant)

229mm x 70mm x 96mm tooth. This molar was obtained many years ago when the import of Chinese fossils was not restricted. The specimen is in very good condition. It is solid and heavy. The outside top contoured portion of the molar has been cleaned to reveal a smooth mottled finish. The inside portion of the molar has not been curated. The molar appears to have had been broken into about five sections when discovered. These have been glued back together and do not detract from the excellent presence of the piece.
