Description

Polyrhizodus carbonarius?
Carboniferous
Illinois?

Highly unusual 40mm petalodont shark tooth with full root in 60mm matrix. This bizarre shark tooth came out of the collection of Ruth Kirkby and was probably found in the 1970’s. There was no data at all with it. Any idea where it comes from? We are thinking maybe Burlington Limestone? It’s big and beautiful wherever it comes from.
