Description
Majungasaurus crenatissimus Lavocat
Late Jurassic
Isalo Formation
Majunga, Madagascar.
this Majungasaurus tooth from Madagascar is a sharp, serrated relic of one of the most fearsome predators of the Late Cretaceous, about 70 million years ago. Majungasaurus was a stocky, short-snouted abelisaurid theropod, known for its powerful bite and unusual behavior—including evidence of cannibalism. The tooth’s curved shape and finely serrated edges were perfect for slicing through flesh. Fossils from Madagascar are rare, and a tooth like this offers a direct link to one of the top predators of its time—a deadly bite from the age of dinosaurs.
