Description

Leptaglaspis schmidti plus Lehua sp. trilobite
Early Ordovician (Arenigian)
Upper Fezouata Formation
Zagora, Draa Valley, Morocco

Big 117mm negative on 216mm slab with high quality 33mm trilobite on back.

Arthropod. Association. Soft-bodied.

Here’s an odd association with an aglaspid, Leptaglaspis schmidti, specimen on one side and a trilobite, Lehua, on the opposite side.

Aglaspids are best known from the Late Cambrian but they survived into the Early Ordovician, dying out by the end of the period. It has been proposed that aglaspids are related to the ancestors of horseshoe crabs and arachnids.
