Description
Selenopeltis sp. and brittlestars
Ordovician
El Kaid Errami, Morocco
Big 19.5 inch slab with 6.5 inch trilobite and dozens of brittlestars. This plate was collected in the early 1990’s before the Moroccans started restoring and repairing trilobites so it appears to all be original! Very fine specimen that can’t be obtained like this anymore. A great display. Heavy so email for shipping info.
This rare fossil pairing of a brittlestar and a trilobite offers a stunning glimpse into ancient marine life from hundreds of millions of years ago. The brittlestar, with its slender, flexible arms, would have crept gracefully across the seafloor, while the trilobite, armored and segmented, scuttled nearby in search of food. Though from different groups—echinoderms and arthropods—they shared the same ecosystem. Together in one fossil, they capture a snapshot of seafloor life in Earth’s deep past—delicate and armored, side by side.
