Shark.

Galeocerdo is the genus for the modern tiger shark and its extinct relatives.  This tooth represents one of the earliest-known occurrences.  Middle-Late Eocene teeth are also found in Alabama and North Africa.

Collecting is no longer allowed at Lee-on-Solent so this your chance to pick up a specimen from a classic fossil locality for shark tooth collectors.

Today, one species of tiger shark, G. cuvier, survives in tropical seas worldwide.
