Description

Plumulites tafennaensis
Late Ordovician (Caradocian)
Lower Ktaoua Formation
Zagora, Draa Valley, Morocco

Extremely rare and unusually large 65mm articulated machaeridian on 100mm x 75mm slab.

Worm. Soft-bodied. Lagerstatten.

Plumulites is an extinct, armored worm of the Phylum Annelida. This world has never been safe for a soft-bodied animal so some worms developed armor.

It would seem that all worms would belong to the same group but many organisms called a “worm” actually have separate ancestries – as separate we are from echinoderms.
