Excellent 1mm tooth of one of the very earliest mammals ever found.

Like Morganucodon, Kuehneotherium is a genus considered by most researchers to be one of the earliest-known mammals.  However, others prefer to call them “mammaliaform,” which means that they are closely-related to early mammals but not true mammals.  Some might say that’s splitting hairs.

Both genera were about the size of modern shrews and likely had a very similar lifestyle.
