Description
Oligocene
Florissant Shale
Florissant, Colorado, USA
16mm insect on 60mm slab from the famous Florissant Fossil Beds.
Arthropod. Insect.
There appears to be enough of this one to ID at least to family but it can be tough to find a paleoentomologist when you need one. Of course, insects were essentially modern by the Oligocene. Many just had different geographic ranges than they do now due to shifting climates and drifting continents.
This insect looks sad. Head down. Maybe he’s given up. Maybe you should buy him.
