Description

Late Mississippian
Bear Gulch Limestone
Fergus County, Montana, USA
Large 128mm fish on 246mm repaired slab.

Fish, Bear Gulch Limestone. Carboniferous.

Fubarichthys is a genus of fish that appears to be known only from Bear Gulch. The genus is derived from the military term, “FUBAR” (the fish “fouled up beyond all recognition’) which is a reference to the fact that the skull of specimens of this fish from the famous Bear Gulch deposit is almost always found poorly preserved.

This specimen is in above-average condition. Reel it in while you can.
